Tape to protect the finished blade
Evening folks, can anyone recommend some good tape which does not leave residue on the blade which is available in the uk?
I have tried various tapes and not come across one yet which doesn’t leave residue of the adhesive, I have also tried wrapping the blade in tissue first then taping up but I would prefer to just use a tape whilst I am working on the handle.
I generally use frog tape, it’s a green painters tape that hasn’t seemed to mar my blades in any way while they are covered. I looked it up and it says that it’s on amazon in the UK, hope this helps.
I’ve also seen Alec steel put a thin coating of oil on his blades before wrapping them to prevent rusting or adhesive residue, that might help as well.
I've been using outdoor gaffer tape. Comes off pretty clean, any residual adhesives can removed with a wipe of oil.
